The 4D Mag from Smith completely blew my mind! Yes, they are expensive, but the $320 is worth every penny. They come with a low-light lens, a normal lens, and a carrying case. Ideal for
- An incredibly wild field of view with the ability to look down through the lower part of the lens.
- Quick changing magnetic lens system.
- The buckle on the strap makes it easy to clip these around a helmet, head, or beanie.
Not ideal for
- Changing lenses is too easy, and can lead to lens indecisiveness.

Upgrade from Smith I/O
Originally posted at www.smithoptics.com on May 28, 2024I got the 4D Mag to replace Smith I/O goggle and the first thing I noticed upon putting it on was the much greater field of view. I didn't feel like the I/O had a great field of view, particularly when looking down right in front of me, but the 4D Mag completely remedies that issue. The goggle is a little heavier than the I/O. The hard case and protective gogglesoc will go a long way to keep the goggle in good shape.

If you really want to dive into the differences between the materials, and engineering behind snowboards Jay is the guy to get into these conversations with.
