Your stomp pad search is over!
Originally posted at www.dakine.com on Apr 10, 2021 This stomp pad is amazing and does exactly what you need a pad to do; Grip. Certainly not the prettiest thing available, but it outperforms all others by a wide margin. The spikes are huge, and there are a lot of them. I compared it in person to a whole line up of other top brands, and none came close to this for grip and agressiveness. Once your boot comes down, it's practically impossible to slide it in any direction without completely lifting your boot off first. I didn't realize there was a black option. The store had White and Clear. I choose clear. If this thing ever needs replaced or for my next board I'll get the same thing in black. I bet in a pinch, you could ride all the way down the mountain with this and only your front ankle binding attached. The material is flexible, but still hard enough it will likely never ware out. The adhesive is thick and sticky. If you inadvertently stepped on this thing with its adhesive side up, it would become part of your foot. The glue is like one of those sticky mouse traps for human sized mammals. Be advised, it has a multi step process to adhere to your board that should probably be followed. 1:Wipe down the board with isopropyl alcohol. 2:Heat the Board and the Pad itself with a hairdryer. 3:Carefully align and apply the pad. 4:Step on it with all of your weight, but don't skid it around, just stand on it for a bit. (You pretty much can't skid it at this point anyway). I ended up using Windex, a couple paper towels, and a hobby type heat gun on low, which is still hotter than any hair dryer. That's all I had, and It seemed to work perfectly fine I just kept it farther away. The clear color allowed me to see any small air pockets as they appeared visually and helped to ensure a perfect gluedown. I would still personally go black the next time, for personal preference, as following the written instructions will ensure that you get a good adhesion the first try.

Tyler made great recommendations and really took the time to understand where my skill level is at and where I intend to ski.
