I usually ride a 162. The first thing I want to mention is its cool design. The board is indeed beautifully made. Now, about its technical characteristics, the first thing I want to highlight about this board is its incredible edge control. Its geometry has a huge camber, and the rocker only starts in a specific part. If you look closely at the surface, you will see it's complexly made, which allows the board, despite its shorter length, to float well in deep snow. I've ridden on various surfaces in previous seasons, and now I want to note that the board is very demanding in terms of riding. You have to work with this board. It requires effort - if you don't press down on it enough, you won't be able to unleash its potential fully. The board also performs excellently on landings. At first, I was even unaccustomed to how well the board floats and jumps even from high drops. I landed in a central position, and it did not cause any problems. I also want to mention that this model has new inserts. I hadn't noticed this in Jones boards before. The inserts are shifted back, so you can move the bindings back and comfortably ride in powder. This board won't let you down in a terrain with a lot of snow. I recommend buying this board in the same length you usually ride. For instance, choose the same length if you've been riding a 159.
- Excellent for sharp turns and precise maneuvers
- Ideal for powder conditions
- High-Speed Stability
- The board requires significant effort and skill from the rider
The Stratos is a hybrid all-mountain board built with the body of a directional freeride board and the spirit of a freestyle board. The Stratos has a playful board feel thanks to a narrow sidecut and friendly flex, but the 10mm of taper and 3D Contour Base 3.0 give it the float and turn performance of a pow board. The directional rocker profile and Traction Tech 3.0 keep the Stratos locked on edge accelerating into carves and the textured Eco-plastic top sheet and Basalt stringers add torsional response and reduce board chatter in rough terrain. The Stratos also features Float Pack inserts that offer a setback stance option for the deepest days.
