Expert verdict

The Jones Stratos Snowboard is a dream for advanced riders who crave versatility and performance. It combines the best of freeride and freestyle, offering a playful yet powerful ride. The narrow sidecut and friendly flex make it fun for freestyle, while the 10mm taper and 3D Contour Base ensure it floats effortlessly in powder. The Traction Tech 3.0 keeps you locked in during carves, and the Float Pack inserts are perfect for deep snow days. However, it's not for beginners, as it demands skill and effort. If you're ready to tackle challenging terrain, this board is your ticket to adventure!

The Stratos is a hybrid all-mountain board built with the body of a directional freeride board and the spirit of a freestyle board. The Stratos has a playful board feel thanks to a narrow sidecut and friendly flex, but the 10mm of taper and 3D Contour Base 3.0 give it the float and turn performance of a pow board. The directional rocker profile and Traction Tech 3.0 keep the Stratos locked on edge accelerating into carves and the textured Eco-plastic top sheet and Basalt stringers add torsional response and reduce board chatter in rough terrain. The Stratos also features Float Pack inserts that offer a setback stance option for the deepest days.

I usually ride a 162. The first thing I want to mention is its cool design. The board is indeed beautifully made. Now, about its technical characteristics, the first thing I want to highlight about this board is its incredible edge control. Its geometry has a huge camber, and the rocker only starts in a specific part. If you look... Read more

I will just say that this board will challenge your technique and skills but will reward you with sharp turns and locked-in edges if you can power through. The tail of the board does not have much rocker and is not very forgiving if you get lazy. When blowing through some chunder and dodging small humans, I almost ate it... Read more

At first glance, I wasn't really sure what the Stratos was all about but when I finally got a chance to ride it, I found that Jones' description was true: The Stratos looks like a freeride/powder board and it because of the extra nose, short tail, and some taper it does have some nice float but underfoot it really feels... Turntable, stable and fun

Originally posted at www.jonessnowboards.com on Sep 21, 2024
First rode this on a powder day at Keystone CO. For context, I am 6’3, 260 lbs, have the 164W. Holy moly this thing was mowing through powder. Really fun board and used for any terrain. Wasn’t even on the powder binding set backs, and was plowing. Very turntable, easily maneuverable. Can’t wait to ride this in the 24-25 season.

Woods Weapon

Originally posted at www.jonessnowboards.com on Sep 2, 2024
For 23/24 season I rode the Stratos solid 153 at 5’4”, around 140-145lbs, at the most narrow +/+ stance, around 500k vertical feet. The 153 is a woods weapon. If it’s a powder day, then I’m in the trees, strapped to the Stratos, and having fun. Great balance between float and agility. It’s also a reliable all-mountain board: plenty of stability and edge hold, glides down the cat tracks. Might be worth sizing up though if you’re more all-mountain. Especially on deeper days the shorter board is going to make you work for it. And that’s my one issue … I can’t use the set back stance on powder days. I’d upgrade in a heartbeat if they made narrower binding settings that were appropriate for the shorter board length, or if they made set backs for the front foot. Being stuck on the narrowest middle setting, the board wants to nosedive in deep stuff. Worth it for the steeper woods riding, but just be ready to lean back and burn for that pillowy line after jealously eyeing a storm wolf on the lift line. Also rode the 156. Not surprisingly, the longer board had better float, and was less agile. And the split 159. Kind of a controlled surfy feel in comparison. Having both reliable edge control and extra float is useful when you’re out of bounds on varied terrain.

VICTOR VON CLAUS

There’s some type of feeling that you get when you feel taken care of when buying something whether that be in store or online. Victor continuously does just that! I came back and he never let me down. Response time is great, knowledgeable, friendly, and an all around great guy. He was able to narrow down so many options based on my experience level and abilities along with what I’m searching for in the product. Come to find out he demo’d the product I got and he mentioned to me that he enjoys the product arguably more than what he’s riding. I will be returning when I’m in need of something else and I will be rekindling my friendship with Victor!

The robots failed me in my initial chat experience so Ryan stepped in. At first I was very nervous about this entire process but he listened to everything I said and tailored my build to suit my needs. He was kind and attentive in answering all of my questions, and even recommended some other gear that I've been searching for. I knew buying my own equipment for the first time ever was going to be expensive but I believe I am getting my money's worth for the value of the kit he put together. Thank you, Ryan, for giving me a chance and being patient with me. I hope your boss reads this and buys you lunch. You deserve it.

Alec was great. He was able to help so much. I have been looking to buy skis for 3 years now and didn't have an idea on where to start on this site. I knew that there was some cost to invest in a good pair of skis... but WOW thanks to Alec I was able to find some great deals for skis and also could get a nicer fitting jacket this season. That fit into my budget. Thank you!

I felt like I made an online friend with Jonny 👏
5 /5
I was Googling what size snowboard to buy for my son, and continued on by opening Curated’s website. Jonny popped up in the chat to ask how he could help. He asked a lot questions beyond my sons’s weight and height to “curate” his top picks of equipment. How long he has been boarding, his ability level, his age, what type of boarder he is, and where on the mountains he spends his time. He addressed my concern that my son is still not finished growing and that I need equipment to grow with him. He selected a board that not only would allow my son to enhance his skills with the responsiveness of the board, but allow him 3-4 seasons on it as he grows. The questions and answers back and forth were numerous and sometimes even extremely funny from both of us! I know Jonny has a job to do and he’s selling me a product, but the interaction was enjoyable, fun and informative. If all the folks at Curated are as enjoyable to work with as Jonny, kudos to this company. Shipping time is extremely fast. I have the boots and bindings and the board is out for delivery as I write this. All equipment will arrive in under a weeks time. Thank you Jonny, and Happy snow Trails to you.
