The Curated Take
The Burton Ripcord Snowboard is a versatile and user-friendly board designed to cater to a wide range of snowboarders, from beginners to intermediate riders. Its construction and features suit those looking to develop and refine their skills on various terrains.
The Ripcord is ideal for beginners due to its forgiving nature and easy turn initiation. The board features a flat profile with a slight rocker at the tip and tail, which reduces the chance of catching an edge – a common issue for new riders. Intermediate riders will also appreciate the board's stability and responsive feel, which aids in building confidence on more challenging slopes.
During my time with the Burton Ripcord, I found it to be exceptionally accommodating in helping me progress from easy green runs to more challenging blue slopes. The ease with which I could initiate turns and maintain control was particularly noticeable. On one occasion, in light powder conditions, the board floated better than expected, making the experience enjoyable rather than intimidating.
- Exceptional Turn Ease
- Durable Construction
- Effective Carving Ability
- Limited for Advanced Freestyle
- Good but Not Exceptional Flotation
The Burton Ripcord is a great option for snowboarders on the rise who are still looking to progress their skillset. The Ripcord's tip and tail kick up with an early rise outside the feet for a catch-free confidence inducing feel. An increased pop in the tail and a more resilient nose allows for riders to easily maintain control through all terrain and conditions.
- Easy Bevel Edges – The design gives riders an incredibly soft and forgiving board that’s difficult to catch an edge on.
- Fly 900G Core – The simplest of Burton’s cores, the Fly is made up of two wood species that lighten the core, but still give it strength, pop and flex.
- Extruded Base – This base requires little maintenance and provides a speedy feel without the need for waxing.
