Who would love these
The Salomon Stance 96 skis are ideal for upper intermediate to advanced skiers who like to ski fast on groomers and firmer snow but still want some all-mountain capability for exploring off-piste or when some powder finally falls from the sky.
Why I recommend these
Expert verdict
The Salomon Stance 96 is an incredibly versatile all-mountain option for skiers who crave stability at speed but still want some off-piste capability. With an excellent strength-to-weight ratio, these skis offer a surprisingly smooth ride whether they are ripping high-speed turns down a groomed run or weaving through tighter trees or moguls. The dual titanal plates sandwiching the wood core ensure excellent edge grip on all snow conditions and result in the Stance being highly stable at any speed, allowing them to bust through crud and chunder with hardly a thought. However, carbon windows in the fore and aft of the ski also introduce a very welcome rebound to the ski, giving it some very fun pop from one turn to the next. While they run a bit too stiff for beginners and lower intermediates, the Stance 96 is a super well-rounded all-mountain ski for upper intermediates all the way to advanced skiers who want a confident feel underfoot when charging on hardpack but still want a dash of playfulness.

Is this ski recommended for you?

The marquee ski in Salomon’s all-mountain Stance line, the 96 is unrivaled in strength-to-weight ratio. This all-mountain driver offers a butter-smooth ride at any speed. Two titanal plates run the length of the ski to provide impressive edge grip when the going gets firm, and release torsional stiffness for poppy, powerful turns.
