Great for ungroomed XC adventures
Posted on Apr 6, 2024This is my third pair of XC skis in my search to find the right ski for the conditions typically available in the Northern NM / Southern Colorado area that I ski in. I am usually heading out to XC ski in places that are not groomed. My Rossignol OT 65 Positracks work well on groomed trails, but whenever I ventured onto ungroomed terrain or even groomed trails that had gotten messy, I felt like I did not have good stability. My ankles would have wobbly moments and I would fall from time to time. The 80s are great and I felt so much more stable and confident during my ungroomed XC ski outing, which was in deep, fresh snow.

I really appreciated Leo’s honestly as most online reviews of the ski equipment I was looking for were far too positive, and really very few people willing to admit or call out truths about various options, however Leo was spot on and understood exactly what I was experiencing with my current skis which perhaps weren’t the best choice for where I ski. That said we had a huge downfall of snow today and my skis performed absolutely brilliantly, but with Leo’s help I decided to upgrade my skis anyway and also needed bindings for my new Atomic Maverick 88ti skis, following Leo’s advice I opted for the Marker Griffin 13 ID Bindings.
