I love the versatility of the Vantage. Its adjustable vents make it useful in all weather throughout the whole season. It’s lightweight makes it a solid choice for light touring, but it’s durable enough for daily resort use too.

Can you recommend a good helmet for a female skier, size large, under $250?

The Smith Vantage MIPS Helmet would be a great choice. It's super warm and as safe as it gets. It has a super convenient BOA knob on the back of the liner that allows for a perfect fit every time she puts it on with just the twist of a knob.

Does the Smith Vantage MIPS Helmet come in other colors and how is the ventilation?

Yes, they are the same helmet as the black one! It's the helmet I own. I always believed investing in good safety equipment was worth it, and I've had the same helmet for four years now and its still a great fit and easy adjustability.

What can you tell me about the Smith Vantage MIPS Helmet?

The Vantage is by far the nicest of the tree. The liner customizes to your head and there is a little knob on the back that tightens it and makes it a perfect fit every time put it on. The liner is super thick and keeps your ears super warm. I have this helmet in mens version and swear by it. Smith makes the best out there.

I bought the Smith Vantage after owning a Bern helmet for a few seasons. I was looking for something more technical in style and performance, and the Vantage absolutely delivered.

The wicking lining is exceptionally comfortable and breathable, and the adjustable air vents mean I can let cool air in when I’m skinning up, close them on an extra cold day, or keep snow out on the lift.

I’ve been a Smith goggles customer for many years and was really impressed at the goggles/helmet integration that this helmet offers. I don’t usually have a problem with fogging up, but the Vantage totally eliminated any fogging!

I have a pretty round head shape, but I‘m not sure someone with an oval head shape would find this helmet as comfortable. Also, size up if you wear a balaclava or beanie under your lid.

This is a really versatile helmet. Good for touring, resort days, and everything in between.

Overall, the Smith Vantage is a very impressive helmet. And I love the added safety of the MIPs system. I would highly recommend this helmet!

What is the value for the money versus other options?

The Vantage is a fairly expensive helmet. There are other helmets with MIPs or adjustable vents available for less. But all of the features of the Vantage come together to create a helmet that is well worth the price tag. Tons of vents, added safety, comfort, and goggle compatibility all make for a good value on this helmet.

I chose the Vantage for a few reasons: I knew I needed a helmet that would work in a variety of conditions. I also wanted a helmet that was safe and confidence inspiring - the MIPS system certainly helps with that. Lastly, I wanted a helmet that was stylish. I’ve been really happy with my Smith Vantage.

What was your favorite moment with this gear?

My favorite moment with the Smith Vantage was in April of 2022, riding in belly deep powder at Mt. Bachelor in Oregon. We got 7 feet of snow in 7 days, and we couldn’t get enough Working hard on the way down, and chilling on the lift back up; the Vantage kept pace. Thanks to the goggle vents, my Smith goggles never fogged up.
