Questions You Should Ask About Buying a Women's Snowboard
Does it matter if I ride a snowboard made specifically for women?
The short answer is 'No'. Anyone can ride a unisex/men's board that is sized appropriately for the individual with corresponding men's/unisex bindings and boots and have a good experince. However, keep in mind that men's/unisex gear is constructed for larger statured individuals while women's is suited for smaller statured individuals. It is recommended not to mix the gender of gear such as a women's board with men's bindings/boots as it can adversely affect performance.
Should my boots and bindings be specific to women?
It is important that your boots and bindings are specific to women. They are designed with the structure of the female body in mind and you will find that you get the best response and comfort for getting gear that is designed specifically for women.
How do I identify my riding style?
Riding style is the rider's preference how they like to ride and where they want to spend most of their time on the mountain. First, it is important to understand each style: powder (seeks fresh powder to slay), freeride (seeks hard-charging carves), all-mountain (slay whole the resort), and freestyle (hitting jumps, boxes, rials, and other jibs in a terrain park). Style may also change as an individual progresses in the sport. Honing in on style will offer better gear choices. For example, someone who enjoys powder slaying will not get the best performance on a board setup for freestyle. Therefore it is important to identify riding style to enhance the overall experience.
