What is TaylorMade best known for?

TaylorMade is known for their innovation in golf technology. Back in the 1970s, TaylorMade released the first ever metalwood and sparked the new era of modern technology. Other notable technologies include bubble shafts, moveable weights, rescue hybrids, 5-layer balls, speed pockets, twist face, and now a carbon fiber face in the Stealth drivers. TaylorMade made its name among innovation, and continues to push the limits of golf technology.

Best TaylorMade Clubs for Drivers

Top Pick

TaylorMade Stealth Plus+ 2 Driver

$629.99
  • We price match
  • Returnable
Ideal for
  • Low spin and workability

  • Forgiveness in a players head

  • Carbon fiber face offers premium sound and feel

  • Golfers who value being able to adjust the sliding weight to draw or fade

Not ideal for
  • Higher handicaps. This driver is more workable than it is forgiving

  • Low-spin head not for slower swing speeds

  • The player who doesn't value being able to adjust the settings of the clubhead

By far the longest driver in the lineup this year for TaylorMade. The updated weight track system and added carbon are clear upgrades from last year's model. The added carbon and return of the forged construction ring brings more weight back to the back of the club without sacrificing any performance. The driver is the most adjustable so any player can find the perfect build for their swing.

TaylorMade Stealth 2 Driver

$599.99
  • We price match
  • Returnable
Ideal for
  • Forgiveness on off-center strikes

  • High launch and controlled spin

  • Great sound and feel

  • The majority of mid to high handicap players

Not ideal for
  • Workability

  • High swing-speed players can find this driver spinny

  • The player who tends to slice the ball

This driver is for the majority of players in the mid to high handicap skill range. The driver is made of carbon materials that keep it light, allowing faster swing speeds. It has a higher MOI, meaning it is more forgiving on off-center hits. It is very easy to hit and looks good in the bag.

I would recommend this club is for the player who is looking for forgiveness and a club that is more straight forward, without all the bells and whistles of the Plus version.

TaylorMade Stealth HD 2 Driver

$599.99
  • We price match
  • Returnable
Ideal for
  • Players who tend to slice

  • Players who need extra launch help

  • Golfers who are looking for very high forgiveness on mis-hits

Not ideal for
  • Players who already hit a straight ball or with a slight draw

  • High swing-speed players - can be "spinny"

  • Golfers looking to work the ball both ways

The Stealth 2 HD (High Draw) is great for higher handicap players who fight a slice. The weighting in this driver promotes a draw, and features the same carbon face of the other two models. Lighter weight, more carbon, and more forgiveness than the already very successful previous generation make this a great choice in draw biased drivers.

  • Those who want a compact head

  • Face Balanced is not for every stroke

The GT delivers the same forgiveness that Spiders are known for in a sleeker new look. Based off the numbers from testing, it is very hard to tell a mis-hit from a pure strike. This will lend itself to fewer three putts and more birdies for 99% of golfers.

Best TaylorMade Clubs for Utility Irons

Ideal for
  • Accuracy off the tee

  • Low spinning and forgiving

  • Player preferred shape

  • Advanced players looking for a versatile utility iron

Not ideal for
  • Not as forgiving as the Stealth DHY

  • Not as easy to launch as a hybrid

  • Not as workable as the P790 UDI

The Stealth UDI is a great choice for a golfer looking for versatility off the tee, or for longer approach shots into greens. The weighting helps get the ball into the windows that are desired, while adding some forgiveness over older driving iron models.

Runners up
Ideal for
  • Accuracy off the tee

  • Forgiveness

  • Players who don't like the look of hybrids

  • Easy to hit utility iron especially out of the rough

Not ideal for
  • Not as versatile as a hybrid

  • Not ideal for the advanced player

  • Not meant for those who have challenges with longer irons

The Stealth DHY is a very forgiving utility iron. It is a go-to option off the tee, but still very forgiving off the deck in the fairway. Loaded with SpeedFoam Air and sporting a very inviting profile, this is a great option for players who want a forgiving alternative to a hybrid.
