How do you choose an all mountain snowboard?

When selecting a new all-mountain snowboard it is best to identify the types of riding and styles you want to do. If you are mainly interested in freestyle, your board choices will be much different from someone who is focused on carving or someone who is chasing powder. All-mountain boards are the best for riders looking to play all over the mountain whether it is the park, on groomers, in the trees, or an open powder field, an all-mountain board can do it all.

Answer by ·

Is rocker or camber better for all mountain?

There is no "better" with regards to rocker or camber, for an all-mountain board. All-mountain boards are supposed to work for a rider, in all conditions and terrain types that they plan on experiencing. Rocker is better in powder, whereas camber is better for speed and groomers. All-mountain boards come down to personal preference, and how the rider wants their board to feel. Rocker will have a softer, more forgiving feel. Camber will feel stiffer, provide additional responsiveness, allow for better grip on trails, and handle speed better with less chatter. Hybrid options provide the best of both worlds and can take two forms (camber/rocker/camber or rocker/camber/rocker). Hybrid profiles provide the benefit of both. It's all about understanding the traits of rocker, camber, and hybrid to make a better-educated decision for one's own riding style.

Answer by ·

What are other types of snowboards besides all mountain that I could consider?

Besides all-mountain snowboards, we should consider freestyle, powder and freeride snowboards when looking at new options. A snowboarder's riding style will depend on which type of snowboard they might want. It can also be worth considering specialized options such as volume-shifted boards and splitboards depending on conditions, terrain, and overall mission with the gear.

Ideal for
  • Intermediate all terrain crushers

  • Riders who want one board to do it all

  • Beginner snowboarders progressing

  • Intermediate-Advanced snowboarders on a budget

Not ideal for
  • High speed and aggressive riding

  • Deep Powder

  • Riders who spend all day in the park

Outstanding all-around performance that can be ridden anywhere by anyone. The Basic has a medium flex with a hybrid profile and twin shape. It has camber in the middle that provides stability and pop, and flexy, rockered tips that are easy to butter and gives the board a maneuverable and playful feel. It's a pretty basic board as the name applies and isn't going to handle really high speed, steep terrain, or deep powder very well. But is great quality at the price and playful all-mountain deck.
